Its illustrated label refers to the Kilimanjaro plain, an ecosystem that MEEKO humbly contributes to protect through the STEPCLOSER impact program. The goal is to address each of the 4 main fashion impact factors on biodiversity: animal exploitation, exploitation of limited natural resources (forests, water), pollution, and reliance on fossil fuels. Respect for life: After carefully studying the main impact factors of sneakers on living beings, we provide appropriate responses: No animal materials , bio-based, and traced materials (not from deforestation) Short supply chain - assembly workshop in Portugal. Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese suppliers Workshop and sole supplier powered by solar panels (> 80%) End-of-life program The carbon footprint associated with this model is 6kg of CO₂ compared to 15 to 20kg for a pair of classic sneakers. Our committed model STEPCLOSER Our commitments as a brand start with our products and extend through the STEPCLOSER program that we created in early 2021. We allocate 30% of our profits to this program through which we support local initiatives for the protection of endangered wildlife.
