The Mizuno Contender is a collection model originally launched in 1995, with design ideas from Mizuno's founder, Rhiachi Mizuno. This was a lightweight style characterized by stability and support, created for beginner runners looking for a well-cushioned shoe suitable for road or off-road running. With this new version, the original Contender combined Cordura fabric with suede reinforcements for a more durable construction while maintaining maximum comfort. The midsole is a compression-molded single-density EVA foam with Mizuno's Transpower technology in the heel, a highly responsive foam insert that also provides impact absorption and added cushioning. For the outsole, a new one-piece solid rubber has been used with flex grooves in the forefoot for a smoother transition from heel to toe. The classic 90s look and the balanced mix of Cordura mesh and suede create a unique blend between a casual vibe and the sporty origins of this silhouette.
