BUTTERO

THREE GENERATIONS, ONE STORY

In 1974, Mauro Sani founded Buttero with a specific goal: to create the finest riding boots in the world. Thus was born a brand deeply rooted in Tuscany and the Maremma, the land of the butteri (Italian cowboys), from which it takes its name and spirit.

Fifty years and three generations later, Buttero continues to be a family story, built on footwear expertise and a way of doing things that has been passed down and evolved over time, without losing its connection to its origins.

QUALITY WITHOUT COMPROMISE

For Buttero, everything starts with the raw materials.

The leathers, selected in Tuscany, come from tanneries located just a few kilometers from where they are processed. This choice enhances the local area, preserves local know-how, and allows for a direct relationship with the people and companies with whom Buttero has collaborated for years.

The pursuit of quality starts here, from the choice of material from which each product takes shape.

MADE IN TUSCANY, SINCE 1974

Buttero keeps the entire production process in-house, from design to shoe manufacturing.

Cutting, sewing, assembly, and finishing take place at the production facility in Tuscany. Directly monitoring each stage allows for constant quality control and, above all, preserves a wealth of expertise built over over fifty years of production.

A knowledge that continues to be passed down by working side by side, keeping alive the techniques and knowledge that are part of the Buttero identity.

BUTTERO'S CODES

Buttero has highly recognizable distinctive features, born with the brand and which have remained an integral part of its products over time.

Raw-cut edges, leather laces, bold stitching, vegetable-tanned leathers, and handcrafted details have graced the brand's history and recur in its collections today, reinterpreted through contemporary shapes and construction.

Buttero's historical archive also safeguards this continuity: over 1,000 models created over more than fifty years, a testament to the brand's evolution and still a source of research and inspiration today.

Not a repertoire to be replicated, but a heritage from which to continue to evolve.

THE VALUE OF TIME

The choice of materials also takes into account the way a shoe evolves once worn.

Over time and with use, leather changes color, softens, and develops a unique patina. This is particularly evident in vegetable-tanned leathers, where marks and variations become a natural part of the material, making each pair unique.

A Buttero product must not remain unchanged: it acquires character through time and use.

MAREMMA, OUR ROOTS

Buttero takes its name from the butteri, the horse-riding herdsmen of the Tuscan Maremma.

A wilder and lesser-known part of Tuscany, made up of pine forests, Mediterranean scrub, beaches, and wide-open spaces. From this world, Buttero inherits a natural connection to freedom, movement, and the outdoors.

It's an identity that continues to influence the way Buttero conceives its collections: products with character, contemporary and timeless, made to move from the city to the countryside.
